공기질 초미세먼지 구성성분이 사망률에 미치는 영향

미세먼지의 농도와 구성성분은 건강문제와 직결되어 있다. 특히 10 마이크로미터 (micrometer) 이하의 PM10과 2.5마이크로미터(micrometer)크기의 PM2 미세성분은 특별히 건강에 중대한 악영향을 야기한다. 머리카락 굵기의 1/20~1/30에 불과할 정도로 작은 입자인 미세먼지와 초 미세먼지는 각막, 기관지와 피부 등 몸속 어디든지 침투하여 전신건강을 해치는 주범이 된다.
이러한 PM2.5와 PM10는 인체의 폐에 깊숙히 침투하고 혈액의 흐름에까지 관여하기 때문에 그 악영항이 크다고 하겠다. 이러한 미세먼지에 노출된 경우 특별히 인체 장기 중에서 폐와 심장에 중대한 영향을 받게 되고 수많은 연구에서 아래와 같은 인체에 악영향을 보고하고 있다(United States Environmental Protection Agency, 2018).
-폐와 심장질환을 가지 사람들의 조기사망율을 높임(premature death in people with heart or lung disease)
-심장발작 유발(nonfatal heart attacks)
-부정기적인 심박동(irregular heartbeat)
-천식의 악화(aggravated asthma)
-폐기능 감소(decreased lung function)
-호흡곤란, 기침, 기도자극 등의 호흡기계 증상의 증가(increased respiratory symptoms, such as irritation of the airways, coughing or difficulty breathing)
특히 심장과 폐질환을 가진 성인, 노인과 어린이들은 미세먼지의 영향이 크므로 특별한 주의가 필요하다.
